Biography

Dan Snape is a British visual effects supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic London. He studied Media Technology at De Montfort University, Leicester. Subsequently, he furthered his education at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, laying a technical foundation for his career in visual effects. Snape began his career in the visual effects industry in London, initially working on a number of high‑profile films in compositing and other visual effects roles. Early credits include contributions to films such as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), The Dark Knight (2008), Green Zone (2010), Paul (2011), and John Carter (2012), primarily in compositing capacities. At ILM London, Snape advanced to supervisory roles, including Compositing Supervisor on films such as Spectre (2015), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016), and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017). In later years, Snape took on the role of visual effects supervisor on major studio films. He was one of the visual effects supervisors on Avengers: Endgame (2019), Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019) and Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). His role on Jurassic World: Dominion earned him a nomination for the Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature at the 2023 VES Awards, a recognition shared with the film's effects team.
